1. European hotels report gains for October
According to data from STR, occupancy for European hotels increased 2.4% to 77.4% from October 2017 to 2018, with the ADR jumping 6% to €116.15.
2. US predicts Chinese tourism to grow 2% in 2018
Chinese tourists travelling to the US will increase 2% from 2017, predicts the National Travel & Tourism Office that sits within the US Department of Commerce, placing estimated Chinese tourist arrivals for 2018 at 3.2 million.
3. Cape Town hotel rooms 4.3% cheaper than a year ago
The Hotel Performance Index for September 2018, compiled by data analysis firm STR global for Wesgro, has reported that the average Cape Town hotel room was R65.19 per night cheaper than last year, with five-star hotel rooms seeing the biggest drop in price.
4. Burj Al Arab crowned best hotel in the world
The iconic Burj Al Arab has recently been awarded the title of best hotel in the world at the ULTRAs 2018 awards, hosted by The Telegraph Magazine.
