1. 73% of millennials check social media before booking
A recent survey of 1,000 millennials by Knightsbridge Furniture has found that 73% of respondents check the social media feed of a hotel before booking, with one in three being put off booking altogether if a hotel had no social media presence.
2. International outbound trips grew by 6% globally in 2018
In the first eight months of 2018 international outbound trips grew by 6% worldwide, with Asia and South America recording the highest increases, according to the findings of the World Travel Monitor by IPK International.
3. Buyers increased serviced apartment use in 2018
According to a survey by the Business Travel Show, nearly a third (29%) of corporate travel buyers increased their use of serviced apartments in 2018, a big leap from the 20% recorded this time last year. Additionally, it was the only accommodation category to see an increase in use over the last 12 months, says the report.
4. Women take the lead among Chinese FIT Travellers
Women now make up the majority (58%) of the Chinese FIT segment (free independent travellers), also spending on average 14% more than their male counterparts, according to Ctrip.
5. Booking Holdings Completes Acquisition of HotelsCombined
Booking Holdings has announced that it has successfully completed its previously announced plan to acquire hotel metasearch site HotelsCombined, who will report into Booking Holdings’ leading travel metasearch brand, KAYAK.
